sipil.ft.undip.ac.id – On Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 09:00 AM WIB, the Civil Engineering Department of Diponegoro University organized a Group Discussion event with the title “Civil and Structural Engineering in the Present,” held in Room E301 of the Civil Engineering Department at Diponegoro University. The event featured three speakers and a moderator, each of whom was highly competent in their respective fields. The three speakers were Prof. Dr-Ing. habil. Michael Kaliske, a Professor from Germany who is affiliated with TU Dresden, Dr-Ing. Bobby Rio Indriyantho, S.T., M.T., a lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department at Diponegoro University, Dr.-Ing Ediansjah Zulkifli, S.T., M.T., a lecturer from Bandung Institute of Technology (Institut Teknologi Bandung). The Group Discussion event was guided by the competent moderator Dr.-Ing. Dina Rubiana Widarda, S.T., M.T., a lecturer at Universitas Katolik Parahyangan. The objective of the event was to discuss the current state of the field of Civil Engineering, considering advancements in both experimental and numerical analyses over the years.

The event was attended by various invited guests, including students from the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) of the Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program, ongoing research students, students working on their final projects, and Master’s students from the Civil Engineering Department of Diponegoro University. The event proceeded smoothly, beginning with the opening ceremony, followed by the presentation sessions, and concluding with a question and answer session. During the Q&A session, the attendees enthusiastically posed questions to the speakers. The speakers enhanced their responses by utilizing physical tools they had developed, which helped the students better understand and grasp the explanations. At the end of the event, the speakers, moderator, professors, and all attending students took a group photo for documentation purposes.
